Create ~ a ~ Day

I have vowed NOT to bitch about the lack of sun in Paris anymore. So, what I am celebrating is my New Year's Resolution: Create something everyday.

26th ~ "Sugar" A poem that woke me up that night to work on it some more.
27th ~ Major work on Book of Dia
28th ~ Integrating outline into BOD
28th ~ Two versions of "Drive in movie" One prosaic (lazy) the other in the jaunty style of "On an ugly green bus"

I leave you with Benedict Cumberbatch (maybe) in Kabuki drag in Burlesque Fairytales

Over a week

through rain, wind and snow.

Still, I like it.

& I'm off!

Three Fortune Cookies:
1. Go for it. You never know whom you might run into.
2. Be calm and collected, peace is a virtue
(unwrapping 3rd cookie)
3. Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.

As always, I take off for a place I don't know, without any friends, with a spotty history of writing, or even going outside.

But I have high hopes. Always.

Punkin' Swinging on the moon

About ready to go to Paris, in a few days. If I die, these posts will live forever. I like that.

23,116 words so far

Foxfire is really p**sing me off, always the spinning thing! ARG! Hence, the pic.

As far as The Book of Dia is concerned, when I first got bogged down, I thought there wasn't much to the beginning. Now I am urging it to move on already!

Never can please me..

I've been outbid

On virtually every one of my wants... YAY!

I am eating then spiciest, hottest snack corn chip ever.

& yet, I am still eating.

Obviously I don't have a whole lot to say. Today and most days.

If I'm blogging

I'm not spending on eBay. Man, I'm manic. I really have to slow down. I'm gonna go broke. Is this a manifestation of my fear about going to Paris? Three months in a foreign country? Or flying for a day? Oy!

Dunno.

Haven't heard from the Hillerman. Facing the possibility I didn't win. Nov. 1st my second NAMO starts. The Book of DIa.

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Oh what to say, what to say

Nobody's reading anyway!

I don't read the other blogs I've tagged either. Karma, I guess.

Any neat photos?

The problem with photos of Paris is that all you get is the Eiffel, the Eiffel, Moulon Rouge, the Eiffle.. I vow NOT to take a pic ot the tour eiffel even though I'll be living near it.

But there will be trees.

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Yea Yea Yea

I know, I've been neglecting you. I did get the bump under my eye taken out, to be replace by a scar. Much cooler! For now though, it itches and I keep touching it... it better heal soon!

Finally did something with my domain. Don't know if it's up yet. I'm a bit dense when it comes to forms. Free form I'm good at. It'll be for my wonderful writings, which will increase 100 fold the instant I set foot in Paris.

Cancelled my appearance at the Hillerman conference. I don't think I won and I leave for Paris 10 days later. It'll cost me some bucks, but not as much as the apartment in Paris! I'll be laying out almost $10,000 USD! Oy!

Still, I am so looking forward to it. Buying some new clothes, like undies (incase of plane/car/bus crash) and a coat, which I don't need in Tucson.

I'll be bringing my computer, UB, Kindle, iPod and in my heart...

Later, tater

Always tempting to change templates

But I like this one. Going to the dermatologist today. I don't think she'll slice my face open today. Her name is Dr. Hu, and I have to make myself promise NOT to mention U know WHO.

Gosh, other than that, there ain't no more. But it's a good time to drop a Legolas in the juke box and see what plays.

Ah that come hither glare.

Should I bother?

I sent a nasty email to the Dept of State, LA. I think the last two letters are important. The gist of the call was, I needed to amend my AZ ID. At the DMV, more drama. My social security card didn't have my middle name. Sturm und drang. I was given the app with a sigh.

The state of AZ HAD my birth middle name, bless them. Sent it to the id feds in la. Hopefully, my passport comes forthwith.

Also, my beloved Department of Education excused over $100,000.00 in student loans because, well, I'm not long for this world.

One bad (department) apple don't spoil the whole bunch, girl! Back in da day!

I've even startled Legolas!

Idiot Feds

I have heard people go on and on and on about the stupidity of the Federal government. The only contact I've had is with the Dept of Education, a kinder gentler branch.

The State Department, most notably the Passport Agency in LA, ranks now as the stupidest bunch of people ever. I sent in my app, with $ to expedite it, extra $ to mail it immediately when it's done. See the previous post. I thought the recall meant to not send the info.

Just to be on the safe side, I called. The ass I spoke with, "Dylan", said that I needed to sign an affidavit stating that "Mae" is my birth middle name. (I took my mother's maiden name in honor of her, and because I hated Mae.)

I said, "Mae is on the expired passport I sent with the application."

Dylan: "You have to send an affidavit."

Me: "Die."

So I have prepared the affidavit, made a truly marvelous true photo print of my raggedty birth cert., with "Mae" as my birth name.

Idiots.

For good measure: Dirty Boy

Oops! Appears I forgot to mention

I'm going to Paris in December. Staying for three months. Very very very excited! Not that I don't love Tucson, but I've always wanted to see Paris!

NaNoWriMo for 2010

May have a problem, since I'm going to the Hillerman contest, hoping I am the winner. Hoping that Deb does NaNo this year. She was the one who reminded me that it's upcoming.

I will be working on The Book of Dia, book 2 of the chronicles of Natty Bee. I've done some plotting but haven't really worked on it, so it's legit.

Leaving for Paris on the 30th, so I'll have to start Nov 1st, as I won't have time to sprint to the finish like last year.

First blog to say G'bye to Vancoutie

Yeppers, I leave on Monday (this is Sat. evening). I lose my couch tomorrow am, and this desk. Thingo is coming to get my stuff without an offer of payment OR ANYTHING. I don't care. I want her out of my life.

The air mattress is filled (though it could be fuller) and standing up. I hope there's no leak.

So, my first pic of Tucson:

& Ginmuse says See ya soon!

Incorrect use of bogarted

It happens

This blog is always an after thought. Probably because it's on Safari, which has long NOT been my favorite browser. But I'm bored and most of everything I own is packed in a thousand boxes.

I've hired a graphic artist to make me a logo for Punkin'Elf Charms. More on that later.

ETA: This image is a Sumerian book. Flash fiction I'm guessing

burp

Try as I might, I can't get anyone to congratulate me for finishing my novel, or at least give me as atta girl. (Or finding an acceptable title for this stupid blog) No wonder I think I'm all alone.

Now, pack for Tucson!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Don't panic! Nobody faint!

Except for straightening out what I know about the Hohokam, padding the word count a bit . . . . . . I may have written a novel! Called Snaketown.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Wow!

I come here because I need to hug myself more. Dare I say it? I may finish Snaketown in time for the Hillerman contest.

If I don't, there will be a depression I won't survive.

So this is yet another test: ow much do I want to survive?

Happy May

A pretty pink for ya! Watching JURASSIC Park III. I like it, no pretense just carnage. Sam O'Neill was cuter when younger and if I had been in that group, I would have slit Tea Leoni's neck at her first scream. Très annoying! Still can't best the jerk in the port-a-potty. Classic!

SNAKETOWN is going great. I just have to FOCUS! I know everything that happens! It's all outlined! I have to finish the novel before I can go back and edit. I'm excited. I hope I have enough time!

Oh the neglect!

I feel ya! Nicked this from a Brit Poetry site

Anyway, wanted to post that and I thought of this neglected blog. I have a couple, all with different names. Too funny. Totally Gemini.

Favorite Plath poem:

All the Dead Dears
by Sylvia Plath
In the Archæological Museum in Cambridge is a stone coffin of the fourth century A.D. containing the skeletons of a woman, a mouse and a shrew. The ankle-bone of the woman has been slightly gnawed.

Rigged poker -stiff on her back
With a granite grin This antique museum-cased lady
Lies, companioned by the gimcrack
Relics of a mouse and a shrew
That battened for a day on her ankle-bone.
These three, unmasked now, bear Dry witness
To the gross eating game
We'd wink at if we didn't hear
Stars grinding, crumb by crumb,
Our own grist down to its bony face.
How they grip us through think and thick,
These barnacle dead! This lady here's no kin
Of mine, yet kin she is: she'll suck
Blood and whistle my narrow clean
To prove it. As I think now of her hand,
From the mercury-backed glass
Mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother
Reach hag hands to haul me in,
And an image looms under the fishpond surface
Where the daft father went down
With orange duck-feet winnowing this hair ---
All the long gone darlings: They
Get back, though, soon,
Soon: be it by wakes, weddings,
Childbirths or a family barbecue:
Any touch, taste, tang's
Fit for those outlaws to ride home on,
And to sanctuary: usurping the armchair
Between tick
And tack of the clock, until we go,
Each skulled-and-crossboned Gulliver
Riddled with ghosts, to lie
Deadlocked with them, taking roots as cradles rock.
:
Supposed to be doing Script Frenzy, but I'm way behind. Not working on Snaketown either, which grieves me. I am posting to eBay. Sold all 6 yesterday. Very pleased. I need to beef up my PayPal account. Also selling to Powells.com online. Though haven't received any deposits. Hmm.

Right this way

I have been very dissipated lately. Lethargic, mourning my lack of progress on any aspect of my life. And sleeping. My old friend, the bed. I know, at my old age, that nothing will get done unless I do it, but logic don't enter into it.

Started a book I've wanted to read forever, case sensitive, which is a murder mystery in poetry. Also have purchased (of course) The Lineup: Poems on Crime. In the mid 90s, I had a chapbook literary magazine (through the copier) called Work Outa Buffalo. In 1996, I did an issue called Trouble is my Business. Hard-boiled poetry.

But this was done by mostly men, so it's gone further. Bitter? Sleepy.

Seems

I only come here to post a picture. Like this one. But it's a comfort, isn't it? Though I have no desire to be planted, that little angel was probably a child. The sympathy is palpable.

I am currently on the hunt for a rainbow worm. It's very elusive, very cunning. This place, so damp, is having a water break problem. This after the whole area near my complex was dug up and new pipes were installed. The dog upstairs keeps barking, because his asshole owner leaves the vertical blinds in the sliding glass door open. Golden retrievers are so stupid, pretty untrainable. Probably bred to imbecile. Pretty dog though, female I think. She's very slim.

Ah, Paris!

Regardez la lumière en cette photo ! Elle est si chaude et invitation. Je veux faire un pas à l'intérieur de la photo, me repose à une des tables, café d'ordre.

She

The jag upstairs is vacuuming. I am so moving back to Tucson! AND I may buy a condo with Rick's money he left me.

I realize there is definitely a bit of favoritism between the two blogs, but this blog was born for all the brilliant poems I was going to write. Hmmm. Hasn't happened yet. But I still live. Cue "She" by Charles Aznavour. How many women have timeless classics written for them?

I have discovered a new time waster: Picasa. I am going to make my own cover for Snaketown. I also got a personal DVD player which is at the moment my pride n' joy. I'm making a bacon and cheese quiche tomorrow. Y'all are invited!
